Food & Photo Blog: Yongjia's 21st? On why the question mark, I dunno whether it's his 21st or 22nd birthday as he told the two of us different stories. I thought only girls are more wary of revealing their ages. Guys! tsk. Btw, Waraku Dining at the Starhub Centre has shifted to The Heerens, at level 5, which is also known as Attitude Dining, where there's numerous restaurants.

Because I was very hunger while waiting for him, the friend and I had a consensus to order starters. He reached promptly when the food was served.

Hotate Butter

Love the Japanese shroooms! Very fresh, very
al dente and very well-seasoned. Sadly, the portion of the shrooms werent enough for me. As for the scallops, it was buttery and no doubt, sinful.

Beef Kaminabe

This was the healthier choice as compared to the other two mains ordered. However, the complaints were that it was not really filling and it's average and steam rice doesnt come with the paperpot. You gotta order a bowl of rice sepeartely. Not a star order.

Katsu Curry
Chicken Terriyaki CurrySince Waraku's currently having a Japanese Curry Fair which has MANGO flavour, we decided to order that. Yet, disappointingly, the curry was kinda spicy from the normal Japanese ones and no tweeny bits of mango could be tasted. And apparently, the
katsu looked more appealing and in fact, tasted more yummylicious than the terriyaki chicken, whose meat was kinda tough. Not recommended. Try their other curry specialities from the menu.
We met up initially as it was quite awhile since we had met up. Upon knowing his grand birthday is around the corner, we decided to surprise him with a cake. Though I couldnt see his shellshocked expression, I think he's very embarassed when we brought the cake out and lighted a candle on it.

We had a stroll to Plaza Singapura for movies. We caught
Connected, a chinese film directed by Benny Chan - 'A single father receives a sudden distress call from a stranger. She claims that she and her young daughter are kidnapped by brutal gangsters and begs him to save them. Caught in a difficult situation on whether to rescue this unknown person, his instincts tell him that he may just be the only thing standing between them and a painful death so he decides to help'
This show has a very tight story-line, action packed and thriling at the start which kinda made me jump out of the seat =/ Storyline and progress was not that bad. There's always hope and good people around us and humours added at the right place to ease the suspense. Recommended.

- EndHappy Children's Day too to those who are still young at hearts!
To my Malay friends, Happy Hari Raya Puasa!
And to all, happy public holidays!
Lastly, happy 21st, my Shanghai friend, Toh Pyu!!!!

I like my dimples. lol

Photo Blog: Food + F1 + Mooncakes Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango or commonly known as F4) The Movie is the continuation from their dramas though some parts are draggy, it's not bad and pretty humourous too, with the not so handsome flowers! And I thought Makino was very cute when she's angry with Domyoji. heh
Moreover, there's this quote in the movie that's so true - 'Sharing all bad things make it half as bad, while sharing the good things makes it twice as good'
My Mum's Crusine next at Paragon because there was no queues. Fast enough to fill our empty tummies. However, food served was so average which later caused me a major diarrhoea later on -_- I think it's the oysters! It tasted raw and fishy!! Hawker centres ones are so much better and the plain rice was kinda dry too!
tssssk

After all the inputs, I straight away had outputs. My friends always say I superb waste money. lol
Walked around and withnessed the hype on 2008 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix. It's going to be the most anticipated event in local history and also the first night racing in F1 grandpix history. A whopping 100,000 people are expected to turn out for this 61 laps, 300km extravaganza. The practices will be held on the 26th Sept; qualifying on the 27th and the actual race on the 28th. Because the ticket prices were too much for commoners like us to take it, we gotta watch these world’s most technically sophisticated cars in action on television unless Dad got free tickets. heheheh

Hopped to Isetan Orchard because the friend wanted to see if there's any cheap bargains at the DKNY sales. Oh well, we made a conclusion that we are not fated to have any good bargains from these type of sales because the crowds were too overwhelming for us and we were kinda lazy to jostle with the rest. So I suggested to go over to Takashimaya.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is just round the corner, 14th Sept to be exact and I'm not a big fan of mooncakes. I think they are horrible especially those traditional types on top. I was offered a mini snowskin lychee-tini mooncake (lychee martini, white lotus seed paste and a chocolate truffle centre) from Ritz-Carlton at my uncle's house. I couldnt really taste the chocolate as the lotus paste was too strong but the lychee martini was refreshing. So if anybody who wants to get chocolate mooncakes, it's a no no.
Greentea ones shouldnt be that bad though. But the mooncake agar-agars rock big time! I heart the lychees and kiwis. Damn shiok I tell you! Maybe I should ask my mother to improvise her recipe like adding martini into the lychees and make strawberries one? hurhur
I cant wait for the weekend. There's a couple of big matches with the Reds hosting the Devils and Chelsea paying a visit to Man City. I think Man City is going to be a dark horse after a takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ADUG), which means they have a bottomless cash pit and are ready to bankroll on Europe's top talents. It's gonna take awhile I guess since they neither top EPL nor in the Champion League, though Robinho's move to City shellshocked everyone when he was thought to be going to Chelsea.
Nuff said, it's also the time to create some havoc at the canal again. Let's all gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, eat moon cakes and pomeloes together and burn some lanterns and sparkers too! In conjuction with the festival, the Chinese Garden will put up beautiful lightings of Sanrio's popular icon - Hello Kitty Go Races! in this Lantern Fantasy 2008.
Hopefully, there's fireworks display this year too! =D

Caught a movie in the midweek after being so bored and restless for the past two days. I was phyiscally unwell due to the coughings and flu
12 Lotus is quite an artistic Singapore movie I've ever seen, but however, the story falls flat in the middle and never gets up, much like how the main leading actress. 12 Lotus tells the story of a girl, living a hard life of betrayal; be it by her father or the men who claimed to love her. Her story was told through the 12 chapters of the title song. The songs are nice and enjoyable for anyone who has a fetish for musicals. I happened to like the idea of this particular storytelling, and how everything link together, but surely a better story can be crafted out rather than leaving everything so vague and amateur, leaving me with question marks at the end of the show.

Discussed with a friend and I think I kinda grasped the idea of what the director wanted to portray. Anyway, for those who's a fan of Stefaine Sun, be there on time!
Afterwhich, we planned our route carefully and went for shopping! Window shopping to be exact; looking for another pair of sneakers. I decided to leave my red nikeys alone because I wanna keep it! It's limited! I'm a fan of sneakers but it's way too dear for me to adopt as a hobby. Hence, I satisfy my cravings via the Net; eyes satisfications will do. hahah. I wanted to get many many things too but I've got a budget constraint =(
Then, it's off to dinner as our last stop was at Far East. Budget dinner wasnt really that budget at
Sakura Cuisine. hahah. I think the last time I was there was probably four years ago, with JuZone because we skipped the boring orientation together and wanted to have some fun. Nevertheless, I had a wonderFULL dinner despite the food being average

Lime Juice

Belachan Kang Kong

Hotplate black pepper beef

Chef's specialty - Salad You Tiao (Not really a must try)

Nothing beats the company I had on such a special day if you realised, 20082008. That only happens once in a lifetime. heh
***************** Earlier on in the day, I brought my grandma to the doctor as her foot were swollen and painful yet again. Did the X-ray again too. However, the results were the same as the previous ones, showing signs of
osteopenia (thinning of bones) because of ageing. The bones on her left foot are soft which explained the pain when pressure is added.
Today's consultation was a better one compared to the previous two where the doctors totally had no idea what went wrong when questions were posted even though this doctor I seen today was quite dumbfolded too. hahah. Sheeesh. Anyway, my granny is being referred to SGH while still on endless medicaitions plus the foot medicine.
At times, when I see my granny sitting on the chair, nodding away, I feel for her. She looks so lonesome. It was heartrending and I felt awful totally. Sighhhh. When I actually feel that growing up is already a tedious and straining process because of many decision makings and being an adult which I totally loathe. From studying to working life so suddenly, to be true, I'm scared of the fears I've within myself. And because for the past two decades, I've been in a total comfort zone, taken everything for granted, without worrying for anything, which kinda explains how fearful, helpless and doubtful of myself.
Lest, I have got friends around. Yet somehow, although she has many children, I think she's forlorn with the unfrequent visits
Now, I realised ageing is also a fearful process because of what's happening around me. So how many stages of 'heart in the mouth' do we need to experience once in a lifetime?

And I had a movie and dinner date with my dearest neighbour. We've been hearing the hype bout
Dark Knight and wanted to catch it. I think it was me who wanted to catch it more because she's afraid of the horrible-and-scary-looking Joker. hahah. Yet, on the other hand, I was quite skeptical bout the show because I heard lousy comments. Regardless of everything and anything, we went ahead with our guts and hearts and we both find it awesome.

I love the Batmobile and the bike with machine guns most. I simply love these machines towards the end of how it overturned the long truck with mesmerising weaving around the lamp posts and kaboom and capsized like a turtle with upturned belly. Thoroughly senses provoking and thrilled!
The storyline is much more complicated and interesting. We've a Joker villain who appears for the purpose of destructing the order of the human modern civilization and by doing this, he believes the uglyness of human nature shall be reveal. And he enjoys revealing it. His high intellegents and creativity allows him to challenge Batman with all sorts of traps, "games". This finally bring forth a few climax moments and twists in the movie. The excitement persist alone the plot. Heath Ledger's Joker was superb, simply outstanding. Even though, I half-closed my eyes when he threatened to cut the hostages' mouth =/
Go watch it - Action movie containing philosophical messages. You'll not regret it!
We wanted to have dinner at
Shokudo but it was crazily packed at that hour after the movie. We werent willing to queue and so we decided to head elsewhere and coincide to have it some other time. We strolled to Suntec and had Chinese cuisine at
Imperial Treasure Restaurant

I prefer Crystal Jade's

Salad Prawns which is deadly. aaah~

Crab meat with egg white fried rice - Fragrant and not oily

HK kai lan - They have huge and thick stems! Had a sumptuous and lavish meal. I like the prawns best! It literally gives you the shiokness feeling! But the portion was quite pathetic and it's expensive! I realised Chinese restaurants dun like to serve rice first. They like to finish serving all the dishes then the rice. Also, we noticed that the restaurants we've been to, dun like to slice the
kai lans' stems thinner. They just placed everything on the plate and expect us to bite! It's so unglam, especially for girls. What if people who's wearing dentures? Will it drop?
Then, while it was still early, she suggested to head to the Flyer because she has not been there yet. I led the way while we walk over as it was within walking distance. Furthermore, it's good to have a stroll after dinner! hahah. But what we had was really sinful. Nonetheless, it was goooodlike! Perfect for hot weathers =P

Mango & Passion Sherbert + Chocolate Truffle Try the sherbert, it's superlative with edible seeds! And they have many many flavours, interestingly, the Redbull one!
Yay, it rocks like every other day. heh
