Food & Photo Blog: Lame's 21st Birthday Celebration Lame wanted to have a simple Korean crusinie meal and after searching high and low for a reasonable budgeted meal, we made a reservation with this restaurant with a very family style Korean food. We went to get a cake and sort-of decorated the room before her grand arrival though there was some cough ups in between as nobody knew how to tie a balloon! The agony and desperation were all written on our faces. Regardless of this tedious task, I managed to tie majority of them and ended with swollen fingers

The hotel looks kinda dinky and sleazy because of the 'nightclubs looking ktv pubs' and the people there. The restaurant too, looks sleepy and abit no-business to me when I stepped in. And the buffet items are pretty basic, definitely, not the place for variety-seeking buffet eaters. Otherwise, they have three types of meat - Pork, Chicken and Beef, Vegetables, Prawns, Mushrooms and the humble 'Dangmyeon' (Korean Tang Hoon) plus their ala carte menu.

After all the throwing of balloons and pi-po-ing, we hurried to order as we were starving! We went for the steamboat buffet, an order of the ala carte menu of
Dak Gal Bi and a jug of ice-lemon tea before rushing to grab the buffet items. Within five minutes, the waiter came in with the appetisers (refillable) which was yummy and a pan of food filled to the brim.

Their style of BBQ was indeed unique and healthy. Unlike those from Seoul Garden, which the bbq was surrounding the pot of steamboat, theirs was a dome-shaped type of bbq with small 'canal' around the side for the soup. Because of this shape, you sorta bbq thin slices of meat moistened with not oil, but stock and also the steam from the soup. So yayness, no excess fats! Furthermore, while grilling, the juices from the meat also flow down into the soup, enhancing the flavour as cooking intensifies.
Always pour soup onto the pan to prevent the surface from being charred.

Dak Gal Bi here was very different from the one I ate elsewhere. It was long and tubular; soft and very chewy in which your teeth will sink into it. The sauce was so much better than the authentic Korean dipping sauce. It was a sweet spicy sauce which was quite flavoursome to complement with the cakes

We took a break halfway through for a photo-whoring session before continued eating.

Done eating and we carry on taking more photos before the cutting of cake and gift presentation. Jupiter was the cake's name and it was from
Canele. A very chocolately dark chocolate cake!

- End A simple yet tasty meal, with the birthday girl very satisfied. heh

Photo Galore: Meetups - Welcoming and Farewell Get to meet up with Gen after one year because she decided not to come back for holidays during her break. As quoted from Grace, Gen is one degree holder now while we're still mugging. Hmm. I think the word 'mugging' doesnt describe me at all. hahah. Since when I mug. Sigh
While waiting for her to end her interview, Grace and I were starving and we headed to
Sushi Tei to fill our tummies. hahah

Salmon Sashimi

Potato Salad

Golden Roll - Mango and Prawns

Unagi Sushi Roll

Then, headed to
Canele Cafe, Paragon for desserts. Cant hide the fact that we keep eating whenever we are out, just that it's only a small group of us instead of the whole class. hahah
Finally had the chance to indugle in this relaxing ambience of the shop as I've been walking past a few times and never had an opportunity. What's attracting is the chic design of this small cosy cafe with the shop's classic look and delectable pastries

Caraibe

Strawberry Shortcake

Chocolate Classique

I like the
Strawberry Shortcake the most. Dun really like both the chocolate chocolate thingy as it was too sweet and dense especially the
Caraibe. Really taste like eating a piece of chocolate. I find it average, overall
Ambience was pretty good. Just that they may want to do something to the insane temperatures. It was practically an igloo inside the cafe. I do understand that the cakes on display have to be chilled. But hey! Do i look in any ways like a cake? Besides having the same amount of fat contents as one =/ So please, do turn up the heat a little so that your customers have a suitable environment to enjoy their desserts in!

***************** After bidding them goodbyes, rushed off to Bugis to meet the girls. It was a farewell dinner for Lynette as she's returning to Aussie. Our inital Steamboat plan was changed because one dodo was quite full after her
Dim Sum Buffet. We decided on Korean Crusine at Liang Seah's -
Mario KitchenWe ordered the combo sets. One large BBQ (choice of meat) with soup and one Dak Gal Bi with steamboat. The waiter commented that the food we ordered are much much more than the headcounts. He never knows that we are such big eaters, especially with Aunty Aw around. lol

Writing her food diary under her course of sociology of food -_-

She's talking bout her upcoming trip to Redang to conserve turtles. lol

Appetizers. Apparently, only that dodo twinie likes. haha

Steamboat - Pork, Veg, Potatoes

Dak Gal Bi - Not enough for us. lol

Ginseng Chicken Soup

BBQ Chicken Food was good. I think I've done a review on this restaurant. heh. We finished everything in a short while. haha. Afterthat, it was cam-whoring session

After footing the bill, we hunted for more food - Desserts. There's a couple of dessert shops there but since we haven try on this, we went over, literally opposite, for our cravings on desserts! heh

Puddings - Mango, Kiwi, Strawberry

Mango owned

Cant remember. Something like ice-kachang

Honey Lemon, Coke with Lemon

Durian Toast - Shiokness
