Photo + Food Blog: HY's 21st Birthday Celebrations Our inital plan was to get into Sentosa and have a sunny workout and activity but it was changed at the very last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. Nevertheless, we were still at Vivo City, doing what we were supposed to do - Get her a shades. heh

Because HY was late and we (Ash, Wq and me) were in Giant shopping for slippers, the gift presentation was taken place there. Most importantly, to hand her the beautiful and fragile box for safekeeping. hahah

That pink plastic shades found inside the box is part of her present. Within the box, we wrote something on a piece of white paper which is a coupon in exchange for her 'real' birthday gift. Her expression was damn classic when she saw the pink shades. I bet she thought we were playing a prank on her. lol

After asking her to read the terms and conditions on the coupon and explaining it to her, we brought her around to shop for her desired shades. These were the few she had tried and ended up not getting them.

So she took an hour to choose the shades before we carry on to the next activity. The Sentosa plan was backed out in the nick of time before the tickets were bought and all of us decided to head on to Clark Quay for dinner as we were darn hungeeeeeer

Dun the weather looks good? =P After walking around, we finally settled at
Ya Sai Shoku. It is located where
Tampopo was formally, within the
Meidi-Ya Super Market in Liang Court. And I think it's part of the
Ichiban Tei family.
The speciality here is the
Tonkatsu Ramen and there are 2 versions available - The spicy and non-spicy version. Also, in Ichiban Tei-like fashion, they dump at least three or four gigantic laminated menus on your table as if they were all from separate restaurants. Luckily, I know what to have because as I walked towards this restaurant, something had already caught my nose and stomach!
And the birthday girl wanted us to change into something nicer which only Twinie and me gladly obliged. tsssssssk

Salmon Sashimi

Pyu's Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen

Ash's Spicy Kurobuta Pork (Black Pig) Ramen

HY's Non-Spicy Kurobuta Pork (Black Pig) Ramen For Pyu's broth, it's spicy according to her but taste different from Ash's which was spicy as well. There's two slices of
charsiew and a half boiled soya egg inside with bamboo shoots and spring onion in Pyu's ramen
As for both Ash and HY's ramen, it came with slices of Kurobuta Pork instead, which were quite tender and chewy. I think the portion of the slices of pork here was more in quantity compared to
Tampopo's. I prefer the non-spicy broth this time round and the noodles were quite springy, chewy and of a fair sized portion. Overall, the ramen was passable - Average

The half-boiled soya eggs on the other hand were disappointing. The eggs were quite cooked so the yolk wasnt runny and nice

Lame, Wq and mine Curry Kurobuta Pork Katsu Don

This was not as crispy and tender and thin as Tampopo's which made me quite sick of biting after a couple of slices. However, the curry was not bad. heh

Business that day was brisk and the services were quite efficient. The staffs were friendly and helpful in recommending dishes, and best of all, the dishes came fairly quickly. We, too were on par with the speed on our food

Dun they looked shagged after eating? hahah. We left and decided to go to Settlers to slack throughout the night. On our way, we saw fireworks and got very excited. lol.

However, both Settlers and Minds' Cafe were too crowded to be true and we walked back to Clark Quay since we dunno where to chill at. Ash left us. After endless of walking, we finally settled at TCC

Then, we had a surprise cake for her before we left.

Last stopover

They're showing off their ages

Looks can be decieving =P

I looked pretty scary. hahah. Birthday girl say big round eyes mah!

She then classify us according to our attire

End - Hope you enjoy the night as well as loving the gift. heh. Please take care of the pink plastic shades. Dun let the other side fall off!
Oh! We took photos with Peiyu too as she said she's going away already. hhah. I shall post the photos in the next few entries. Got a couple more to catch up. All back dated. lol
