Food & Photo Blog: Lame's 21st Birthday Celebration Lame wanted to have a simple Korean crusinie meal and after searching high and low for a reasonable budgeted meal, we made a reservation with this restaurant with a very family style Korean food. We went to get a cake and sort-of decorated the room before her grand arrival though there was some cough ups in between as nobody knew how to tie a balloon! The agony and desperation were all written on our faces. Regardless of this tedious task, I managed to tie majority of them and ended with swollen fingers

The hotel looks kinda dinky and sleazy because of the 'nightclubs looking ktv pubs' and the people there. The restaurant too, looks sleepy and abit no-business to me when I stepped in. And the buffet items are pretty basic, definitely, not the place for variety-seeking buffet eaters. Otherwise, they have three types of meat - Pork, Chicken and Beef, Vegetables, Prawns, Mushrooms and the humble 'Dangmyeon' (Korean Tang Hoon) plus their ala carte menu.

After all the throwing of balloons and pi-po-ing, we hurried to order as we were starving! We went for the steamboat buffet, an order of the ala carte menu of
Dak Gal Bi and a jug of ice-lemon tea before rushing to grab the buffet items. Within five minutes, the waiter came in with the appetisers (refillable) which was yummy and a pan of food filled to the brim.

Their style of BBQ was indeed unique and healthy. Unlike those from Seoul Garden, which the bbq was surrounding the pot of steamboat, theirs was a dome-shaped type of bbq with small 'canal' around the side for the soup. Because of this shape, you sorta bbq thin slices of meat moistened with not oil, but stock and also the steam from the soup. So yayness, no excess fats! Furthermore, while grilling, the juices from the meat also flow down into the soup, enhancing the flavour as cooking intensifies.
Always pour soup onto the pan to prevent the surface from being charred.

Dak Gal Bi here was very different from the one I ate elsewhere. It was long and tubular; soft and very chewy in which your teeth will sink into it. The sauce was so much better than the authentic Korean dipping sauce. It was a sweet spicy sauce which was quite flavoursome to complement with the cakes

We took a break halfway through for a photo-whoring session before continued eating.

Done eating and we carry on taking more photos before the cutting of cake and gift presentation. Jupiter was the cake's name and it was from
Canele. A very chocolately dark chocolate cake!

- End A simple yet tasty meal, with the birthday girl very satisfied. heh
